Jaipur NEET Student Attempts Suicide, Saved by Alert Teacher: Video Viral
- Jaipur, August 30, 2025
A 19-year-old NEET aspirant in Jaipur narrowly escaped tragedy after attempting to take her life by jumping from the terrace of a three-storey coaching institute in Gopalpura. The incident, which occurred at Guru Kripa Coaching Centre around 2:15 PM on Friday, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media platforms.
According to reports, the student, a resident of Churu staying at a PG hostel in Mahesh Nagar, climbed to the terrace of the coaching centre and sat on the edge of the wall, seemingly preparing to jump. The situation escalated quickly as onlookers below and fellow students noticed her actions and raised an alarm. A crowd gathered on the road, urging her to step back, while teachers rushed to the terrace to intervene.
In a dramatic moment, a teacher approached the student from behind and managed to grab her just as she appeared ready to jump, pulling her to safety. The swift action of the coaching staff prevented a tragic outcome. The Mahesh Nagar police, led by SHO Gunjan Verma, arrived at the scene and have since been investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the student had been absent from recent coaching exams, and her family had visited the institute earlier that day to discuss her academic progress. Sources indicate that the coaching centre shared details of her performance, which may have contributed to her distress. The open terrace gate, due to ongoing cleaning work, provided the student access to the area where she attempted the act.
The police are continuing their investigation, speaking with the student, her family, and the coaching institute to determine the underlying reasons for her suicide attempt. Authorities have not disclosed the student’s identity to protect her privacy.
This incident has reignited concerns about the mental health challenges faced by students preparing for competitive exams like NEET. Jaipur and other coaching hubs in Rajasthan, such as Kota, have reported multiple cases of student suicides in recent years, prompting calls for better mental health support and counseling services in educational institutions.
